Quick answer

The best time to visit Abu Dhabi is November to March, when highs are 24–31°C and the Grand Mosque, Corniche, Louvre gardens and desert are comfortable to explore. Early December is busiest because of the Formula 1 weekend and National Day. April and October are good shoulder months. June to September regularly passes 40°C, so plan indoor Yas Island parks and mosque visits after sunset.

Why November to March works best in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi has the same desert climate as Dubai, but it spreads further: the Grand Mosque, Saadiyat Island, Yas Island and the BAPS Hindu Mandir are 20–50 minutes apart by road. That means more time outdoors and in taxis, so the cooler months matter. From November to March, highs of 24–31°C make it easy to combine a morning at the Louvre, an afternoon at Qasr Al Watan and the mosque at sunset.

Month-by-month: what to expect

November to March (peak)

The best weather of the year. Early December is the exception to good value: the Formula 1 weekend (4–6 December 2026) and National Day fill Yas Island hotels and lift prices citywide. January and February are calmer than Dubai at the same time, which is one reason families choose Abu Dhabi as a quieter base.

April and October (shoulder)

Afternoons of 34–36°C are fine if you plan around them. Mangrove kayaking and beach time work in the morning. Yas Island parks are mostly indoors and air-conditioned, so a theme-park day is unaffected.

May to September (summer)

Highs of 39–42°C. The Grand Mosque stays open until late evening, so visit after sunset. Ferrari World, Warner Bros. World and SeaWorld are indoors, and resorts discount heavily, which makes summer reasonable for a pool-and-parks family trip.

Ramadan and the BAPS Mandir

Ramadan 2027 is expected from about 8 February to 9 March. The mosque often hosts large iftars, and some attractions shorten hours. The BAPS Hindu Mandir is closed on Mondays and needs online registration; Diwali week is its busiest time.

Regional tensions caused short-notice airspace and flight disruption across the Gulf during parts of 2026. Confirm schedules with your airline before paying in full.

Frequently asked questions

Which month is best for Abu Dhabi?
January and February are the most comfortable, with highs of 24–26°C and fewer crowds than December. November is also excellent, apart from Diwali week at the mandir. If you want Formula 1, early December is the race weekend, but expect much higher hotel rates on Yas Island and across the city.
Is Abu Dhabi too hot in summer?
From June to September highs reach 40–42°C, so walking outside is hard after 9 am. Summer still works for a theme-park trip because Ferrari World, Warner Bros. World and SeaWorld are indoors, and resorts discount heavily. Visit the Grand Mosque after sunset and avoid desert trips in the middle of the day.
When is the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in 2026?
The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is scheduled for 4–6 December 2026 at Yas Marina Circuit, with the race on Sunday 6 December. It closes the Formula 1 season. Yas Island hotels sell out months ahead, and rates rise across the city that week, so book early or stay in Dubai and drive in.
Can I visit the BAPS Mandir in Abu Dhabi any day?
The mandir is closed to visitors on Mondays and visits need an online registration slot. Hours can change around major Hindu festivals and public holidays, so check the official site before you go. It sits about 50 minutes from central Abu Dhabi near the Dubai highway, which makes it an easy stop on a transfer.
