A cheap holiday and a good-value holiday are not the same thing. The first hides its costs; the second tells you exactly what you are giving up and makes sure it is not the part that matters.
What we cut, and what we never cut
We save money on hotel star rating, on shared rather than private transfers, on optional excursions and on travelling in shoulder season. We do not save money by putting you in a hotel two hours from the city, by cramming six cities into six nights, or by leaving out the one attraction you came for. Those savings cost you the trip.
Where budget travel works best
Southeast Asia, Dubai, Sri Lanka, Nepal and much of India offer genuinely good experiences at modest prices. Europe and Australia can be done affordably but require honesty about the trade-offs — smaller towns as bases, more train travel, fewer paid attractions.
No surprises at the end
Our budget itineraries list what is not included as prominently as what is. If tips, city taxes, entry tickets or meals are on you, that appears on the same page as the price, not in a document you receive after paying.
