Why travellers choose Golden Triangle
It contains three UNESCO World Heritage Sites — the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort and Fatehpur Sikri — plus Delhi's Qutub Minar and Humayun's Tomb, within a single loop.
The expressways have transformed it. Delhi to Agra is around three hours and Agra to Jaipur roughly four, which means no day is lost entirely to driving.
It scales to any budget, from comfortable three-star hotels to heritage palaces, without changing the itinerary itself.
What not to miss in Golden Triangle
- Taj Mahal — Sunrise is the best hour by a wide margin. Closed on Fridays.
- Agra Fort — The red sandstone fort where Shah Jahan spent his final years, with views to the Taj.
- Amber Fort, Jaipur — Hilltop fort with the mirrored Sheesh Mahal and elephant or jeep ascent.
- Fatehpur Sikri — Akbar's abandoned capital, on the road between Agra and Jaipur.
- Qutub Minar and Humayun's Tomb — Delhi's two finest heritage sites, both UNESCO-listed.
- Old Delhi — Jama Masjid, Chandni Chowk and a rickshaw ride through the lanes.
When to travel
October to March is the season. December and January are pleasant by day but bring heavy morning fog that can obscure the Taj at sunrise and delay road transfers. February and March are ideal. April to June is extremely hot; July to September brings monsoon rain but also a green landscape and much lower rates.
Entry and paperwork
No visa is needed for Indian citizens. The Taj Mahal is closed on Fridays, and separate tickets apply for entry to the main mausoleum platform. We pre-book monument tickets to avoid queues, and include all photography and camera charges in your quote.
Planning a Golden Triangle trip with Elitech Travels
