How to spend less without ruining the trip
- Stay in Kata or Karon rather than beachfront Patong for a similar standard at a lower rate, with easy tour pick-ups.
- Visit in April or early November for near-peak weather at shoulder-season prices.
- Book island tours through your package or a reputable operator; beach-stall prices look low but often exclude park fees and transfers.
- Hire a car with driver for a full day instead of using tuk-tuks, which are expensive in Phuket.
- Compare a non-stop flight with a Bangkok connection; the one-stop route can be cheaper and lets you add two nights in Bangkok.
How much does a Phuket trip cost from India?
A 4-night Phuket holiday costs from about ₹42,000 per person on a budget, ₹55,000 mid-range and ₹1,20,000 for luxury, twin sharing, including return flights from Delhi or Mumbai. Phuket costs a little more than Bangkok and Pattaya because flights are longer or need a connection, beach hotels charge a premium, and the island tours that make the trip worthwhile cost ₹3,500–6,000 each.
How are flights priced?
Bengaluru has non-stop options to Phuket, and several other metros have had seasonal non-stops; otherwise you connect via Bangkok, which adds a couple of hours but can be cheaper. Return fares run about ₹20,000–34,000 depending on city and season. Low-cost fares often exclude checked baggage; budget ₹3,000–5,000 each way to add it.
How much do hotels cost by area?
| Area | 4★ double room per night | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Patong | ₹5,000–8,000 | Nightlife, shopping, Indian food |
| Kata and Karon | ₹5,000–8,500 | Families, calmer beaches |
| Kamala and Surin | ₹7,000–12,000 | Couples, quieter upscale stays |
| Phuket Old Town | ₹3,000–5,000 | Culture on a budget, far from beaches |
Prices in December–February can be double those in May–October. For a full comparison, read where to stay in Phuket.
What costs catch people out?
- National park fees. Phi Phi and Phang Nga Bay fees of a few hundred baht each are sometimes left out of tour prices.
- Watersports and photos. Parasailing, jet-skis and professional photos on tours add up quickly.
- Transport. Phuket's tuk-tuks and taxis are pricier than Bangkok's; a short ride can cost ₹800–1,200.
- TCS. A package bought from an Indian operator attracts 2% TCS, which you claim back when filing your return.
In the monsoon (May–October), choose tours with a free rebooking or refund policy. Rough seas cancel speedboat trips at short notice.
Is it worth combining Phuket with another stop?
Often, yes. Adding two nights in Krabi costs roughly ₹10,000–15,000 per person in mid-range, and Krabi is two hours away. Adding Bangkok on the way in or out can work if you connect there anyway.
