How to spend less without ruining the trip

  • Fly to Puerto Princesa and take the five to six hour van to El Nido instead of the direct El Nido flight, if you can spare the time.
  • Travel in May or November, when the weather is usually still workable and resort rates are lower than in the January–April peak.
  • Book island tours with your hotel or a local agency on arrival; prices are standardised and online resellers add a margin.
  • Stay in El Nido town or Corong-Corong rather than on private islands, and spend the difference on a private boat for one day.
  • Carry pesos in cash for tours, eco-fees and tricycles; small-town card acceptance is patchy and ATM fees are high.

How much does a Philippines trip cost from India?

For a 6-night trip covering Manila, El Nido and Coron, plan on about ₹1,10,000 per person for a mid-range trip, twin sharing, including return flights from Delhi or Mumbai. A budget trip starts around ₹78,000 and a luxury one from about ₹2,40,000.

The estimate is built on our 7-day Philippines itinerary: one night in Manila, three in El Nido and two in Coron.

What drives the cost?

  • Getting between islands: the direct flight to El Nido, the four-hour ferry to Coron and the flight back to Manila together add ₹18,000–28,000 per person. This is why the Philippines costs more than Thailand or Bali for the same nights.
  • International flights: Air India flies non-stop from Delhi to Manila. Philippine Airlines has announced non-stops from Delhi and Mumbai from December 2026, subject to approval. From Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Chennai you connect via Singapore, Kuala Lumpur or Bangkok.
  • Season: January to April is peak season and rooms in El Nido sell out around Holy Week. Rates drop sharply in the rainy months, but so does the chance of boat tours running.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a Philippines trip cost from India for a week?
A mid-range 6-night trip covering Manila, El Nido and Coron costs from about ₹1,10,000 per person, twin sharing, including return flights from Delhi or Mumbai, domestic flights, the ferry, three island tours, hotels and food. Budget travellers who take the van from Puerto Princesa and stay in guesthouses can manage from about ₹78,000.
Do Indians need a visa for the Philippines?
Not for short tourist trips. Indian passport holders get 14 days visa-free, which cannot be extended. If you hold a valid US, UK, Schengen, Japan, Australia, Canada or Singapore visa, you can stay up to 30 days. Carry a return ticket, hotel bookings and proof of funds, and complete eTravel registration before flying.
Is the Philippines more expensive than Thailand or Bali?
Usually yes, by about 30–50% for the same number of nights. Hotels and food are similarly priced, but you need domestic flights and ferries to reach the best islands, and international fares from India are higher. Thailand and Bali have more direct flights and cheaper transport between beaches.
How much cash should I carry in the Philippines?
Carry PHP 2,000–3,000 per person per day in cash on the islands for tours, eco-fees, tricycles and small restaurants. El Nido and Coron have ATMs, but they run out of cash on busy weekends and charge withdrawal fees. Hotels and larger restaurants take cards; Manila is card-friendly.
