Quick answer
Indian passport holders can visit the Philippines visa-free for 14 days for tourism, a rule in force since 8 June 2025. If you hold a valid US, Japanese, Australian, Canadian, Schengen, Singapore or UK visa or residence permit, the allowance is 30 days. Neither stay can be extended. Register on the free eTravel system before arrival and carry a return ticket and hotel bookings.

Common mistakes that get Indians refused
- The visa-free stay cannot be extended or converted; plan the return within 14 or 30 days.
- Typhoon season (roughly July to October) cancels inter-island flights; build in buffer days so a cancellation does not push you past your allowed stay.
- Visa-free entry is for tourism only; business, study or work needs the correct visa.
- Use only the official eTravel site; lookalike sites charge for a free registration.
Do Indians need a visa for the Philippines?
Not for short holidays. Since 8 June 2025, Indian passport holders can enter the Philippines visa-free for tourism. There are two allowances:
- 14 days for any Indian tourist.
- 30 days for Indians holding a valid visa or residence permit from the US, Japan, Australia, Canada, a Schengen country, Singapore or the UK.
Neither stay can be extended or converted to another visa. If you need longer, apply for a Philippine visa before travelling.
How to enter, step by step
- Work out your allowance and plan within it. Fourteen days is enough for Manila plus Palawan (El Nido or Coron), or Cebu and Bohol.
- Book a return ticket that leaves within the allowed days. Most flights from India connect via Singapore, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur or Hong Kong, so check the visa rules for any layover.
- Within 72 hours before arrival, register on eTravel, the government's free arrival system, and save the QR code.
- Carry hotel bookings, proof of funds and, if relevant, the qualifying US, UK, Schengen or other visa.
- At Manila or Cebu, show your passport, eTravel QR code and return ticket.
What officers check
Philippine immigration is courteous but asks questions, especially of first-time visitors. Expect to be asked where you are staying, when you leave and how you are paying for the trip. A printed itinerary, hotel vouchers and a dated return ticket answer most questions quickly. Airlines in India also check the return date at boarding.
One 2025 report mentioned a possible seven-day extension of the 14-day stay, but the consulate advisories describe it as non-extendible. Plan as if no extension is possible.
Families, seniors and weather
Each traveller registers on eTravel, including children. Island-hopping involves boat transfers and early starts, which can tire older travellers; pick one or two bases rather than four. From roughly July to October, typhoons ground flights and boats. Because the stay cannot be extended, keep two buffer days before your flight home.
We suggest travel insurance that covers trip delays for Philippine island itineraries; see our travel insurance page.
