How to spend less without ruining the trip

  • Book Delhi–Baku non-stops 6–8 weeks out; fares jump in May–June and over New Year.
  • Use the Bolt app instead of street taxis, which often quote inflated fares to visitors.
  • Apply for the e-visa directly on the official ASAN portal rather than through look-alike agent sites.
  • Visit in April–May or October, when hotel rates are lower than in summer.
  • Get a BakuKart for the metro and buses; rides cost a fraction of a taxi.

How much does an Azerbaijan trip cost from India?

For a 4-night Baku trip with day trips, plan on about ₹62,000 per person at mid-range, twin sharing, including return flights from Delhi and the e-visa. Land-only, the same trip starts around ₹32,000. Budget versions with a 3★ hotel and shared tours start near ₹48,000 with flights, and luxury trips start from about ₹1.2 lakh.

That makes Azerbaijan one of the cheaper "Europe-feel" trips from India, mainly because flights from Delhi are short and the visa is a quick online form.

Where does the money go?

Flights are the biggest single cost. Non-stop flights from Delhi take about 4.5–6 hours depending on airline and routing. From Mumbai, Bengaluru and other cities you usually connect via Delhi or a Gulf hub, which adds ₹8,000–12,000.

On the ground, Baku is moderately priced. A good 4★ hotel near Fountain Square or the Boulevard costs ₹6,000–9,000 a night for a double room. Taxis on Bolt are cheap. Entry tickets are modest, mostly ₹500–1,100 each. The day trips are where costs build: Gobustan with the mud volcanoes, the Absheron fire sites and Gabala each need a car or a tour.

Visa and money

Indian passport holders apply for the ASAN e-visa online, which cost about USD 26–29 at the time of review and normally takes around three working days. See our Azerbaijan visa guide for documents.

The manat is stable, cards work widely in Baku and ATMs are easy to find. Carry a forex card and a little cash for bazaars and small cafés. Our foreign exchange service can load AZN or USD. Overseas packages bought from an Indian operator attract TCS, which you can adjust against your income tax.

Prices rise sharply in Baku around the Formula 1 race weekend, which has been held in September in recent seasons. Check the date before you book.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a Baku trip cost for a couple from Delhi?
A 4-night mid-range trip for two costs from about ₹1,24,000, including return non-stop flights, a 4★ hotel, guided day trips and e-visas. A budget couple using a 3★ hotel and shared tours can manage from about ₹96,000. Shopping and meals beyond the basics are extra.
Is Azerbaijan cheaper than Dubai?
On the ground, often yes: hotels, taxis and meals in Baku cost less than in Dubai. Flights are usually a little more expensive, and you need an e-visa. Overall, a 4-night Baku trip with flights, from about ₹48,000, usually costs a little more than a 4-night Dubai trip, from about ₹42,000.
How much cash should I carry to Azerbaijan?
Cards work in most hotels, restaurants and malls in Baku. Carry about USD 100–150 per person in cash, exchanged to manat, for bazaars, small cafés, tips and countryside stops on day trips. Use a forex card for larger payments and ATM withdrawals.
What is not included in a typical Baku package?
Most packages include flights, hotel, breakfast, transfers and listed tours. They usually exclude the e-visa, lunches and dinners, cable cars at Gabala, entry to some museums, tips and travel insurance. Check whether Gabala is a shared or private tour, as that changes the price.
