How to spend less without ruining the trip

  • Combine Armenia with Georgia: fly into Tbilisi on the Delhi non-stop and drive to Yerevan, often cheaper than one-stop flights to Yerevan.
  • Use one central Yerevan hotel for all nights; every major sight is a day trip.
  • Share a private driver between three or four people; it often matches group-tour prices per head.
  • Use Yandex Go or GG taxi apps rather than hailing on the street.
  • Travel in May or October for lower rates than the June–September peak.

How much does an Armenia trip cost from India?

For a 4-night trip based in Yerevan with day trips, plan on about ₹72,000 per person at mid-range, twin sharing, including one-stop return flights and the e-visa. Land-only, the same trip starts around ₹30,000. Budget versions with shared tours start near ₹58,000, and luxury trips with a 5★ hotel and a Tatev overnight start from about ₹1.3 lakh.

On the ground, Armenia is one of the cheapest countries in this region. The catch is flights: there is no regular non-stop from India at the time of review, so fares are higher than to Baku, Tbilisi or Almaty.

Where does the money go?

Flights take roughly half the budget. Most Indian travellers connect via Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi or Doha, with total journey times of 8–12 hours. Many connections land in Yerevan in the early hours, so budget for early check-in.

Hotels in Kentron, the central district, cost ₹3,500–6,500 a night for a good 3★–4★ double. You stay in one hotel throughout, which keeps costs and effort down.

Day trips are the main ground cost. A private car with driver for Garni and Geghard, Khor Virap and Noravank, and Sevan with Dilijan is the most flexible option and splits well between three or four people. Most monasteries are free; Garni and a few museums charge a few hundred rupees.

Visa and money

Indian passport holders can apply for an e-visa online, but the rules for Indian applicants changed more than once in 2026, including extra documents and mandatory travel insurance. Check the current position on our Armenia visa guide before booking flights, and buy suitable travel insurance.

The dram is the local currency. Cards work in Yerevan, but villages and markets prefer cash. Load a forex card through our foreign exchange service and withdraw dram from ATMs. Overseas packages bought from an Indian operator attract TCS, adjustable against your income tax.

The cheapest way into Armenia is often overland from Georgia, using the Delhi–Tbilisi non-stop. See the Georgia trip cost to compare.

Frequently asked questions

How much does an Armenia trip cost for a couple from India?
A 4-night mid-range trip for two costs from about ₹1,44,000, including one-stop return flights, a central Yerevan hotel, a private car for three day trips, and e-visas with insurance. Budget couples using group tours can manage from about ₹1,16,000.
Is Armenia cheaper than Georgia?
On the ground, prices are similar and both are good value. Armenia usually costs a little more overall from India because there is no regular non-stop flight, so you pay for a one-stop fare. Combining the two, flying into Tbilisi and driving to Yerevan, often gives the best value.
How much cash should I carry to Armenia?
Cards work in most Yerevan hotels, restaurants and supermarkets. Carry about USD 100–150 per person in cash, changed to dram, for village lunches, monastery stalls, markets and tips. Exchange offices in central Yerevan offer fair rates and are easy to find.
Is Tatev included in a typical Armenia package?
Usually not in 4-night packages, because Tatev is about 4.5 hours each way from Yerevan and needs an overnight in Goris. Adding it costs roughly one extra hotel night, a longer car day and the cableway ticket of about ₹1,500–2,000.
