Quick answer

A 7-night Athens, Mykonos and Santorini trip from India costs from about ₹1,30,000 per person on a budget, ₹1,70,000 mid-range and ₹3,60,000 for luxury, twin sharing, including return flights, Schengen visa and insurance. Santorini's caldera-view hotels drive the cost; staying in Fira or Kamari instead of Oia cuts the hotel bill sharply.

How to spend less without ruining the trip

  • Travel in May, late September or October: Santorini rooms can cost 30–50% less than in July and August, for similar weather.
  • Stay in Fira, Firostefani or Kamari and visit Oia for the sunset; Oia caldera rooms carry the highest premium.
  • Book ferries a few weeks ahead for the cheapest seats, and use conventional ferries when time allows.
  • Eat at tavernas away from the caldera edge; the same meal costs much less one street back.
  • Book the Acropolis on the official Hellenic Heritage site; reseller combos cost far more.
  • Pay in euros, not rupees, at card machines to avoid dynamic currency conversion.

How much does a Greece trip cost from India?

For a 7-night trip covering Athens, Mykonos and Santorini, budget about ₹1.7 lakh per person at mid-range, twin sharing, including flights, Schengen visa and insurance. Budget trips start near ₹1.3 lakh; luxury honeymoon trips with caldera suites run from ₹3.6 lakh. Figures assume late-2026 rates and €1 = ₹102.

Where does the money go?

On a mid-range trip, roughly:

  • Flights: about 25–30%. IndiGo started non-stop flights from Delhi and Mumbai to Athens in January 2026, which has made fares more competitive; other cities connect through the Gulf.
  • Hotels: 30–45%. The caldera view is what you pay for on Santorini. A non-view room in Kamari can cost a third of a caldera room in Oia.
  • Ferries and flights: about 10–15%. Fast ferries cost more than slow ones, and the Santorini–Athens flight is the safest last leg.
  • Tours and food: the rest. A shared catamaran cruise is €100–170; the Acropolis is €30.

Visa, insurance and TCS

A Schengen visa costs €90 (about ₹9,200) plus the visa centre's service charge, and insurance with at least €30,000 of medical cover is required. Our Greece visa guide covers documents and appointments.

If you book a package through an Indian agent, TCS is collected on the overseas tour package at the rate in force when you pay. It isn't a lasting cost — you adjust it against your income tax or claim it back as a refund, using Form 26AS. GST appears separately on the invoice.

How much does season matter?

More than anywhere else in Western Europe. Santorini and Mykonos prices in July and August can be double those of May or October, and around 15 August ferries and rooms sell out. From November to March most island hotels close, so there's no cheap winter island option. See the best time to visit Greece.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a Greece honeymoon cost from India?
A mid-range 7-night honeymoon covering Athens, Mykonos and Santorini costs about ₹3.4 lakh for a couple, or ₹1.7 lakh each, with flights, visa, insurance, a caldera-view room, ferries and a sunset cruise. With a private plunge-pool suite in Oia in peak season, expect ₹7 lakh or more for two.
Are there direct flights from India to Greece?
Yes. IndiGo began non-stop flights from Delhi and Mumbai to Athens in January 2026, each running three times a week at launch. Other cities connect through Dubai, Doha, Abu Dhabi or Istanbul. Check current schedules when you book, as frequencies can change by season.
Why is Santorini so expensive?
Demand for caldera-view rooms far exceeds supply, especially in Oia and Imerovigli, and the season is short — most hotels close from November to March. Restaurants on the caldera edge also charge for the view. Staying in Fira, Firostefani or Kamari and travelling in shoulder season cuts costs significantly.
Is Greece cheaper than Italy?
Athens and the mainland are cheaper than Rome or Venice, but Santorini and Mykonos in summer can be more expensive per night than anywhere in Italy. A 7-night mid-range Greece trip costs about ₹1.7 lakh per person, similar to eight nights in Italy at about ₹1.75 lakh.
