Quick answer

Six days in the Andamans covers the classic circuit: two nights in Sri Vijaya Puram (Port Blair) for the Cellular Jail, Ross Island and North Bay, two nights on Swaraj Dweep (Havelock) for Radhanagar and Elephant Beach, and one night on Shaheed Dweep (Neil) before the ferry back to your flight. Mid-range land costs start around ₹38,000 per person.

The route

  1. Sri Vijaya Puram (Port Blair)
  2. Swaraj Dweep (Havelock)
  3. Shaheed Dweep (Neil)
  4. Sri Vijaya Puram

Day-by-day plan

  1. 1

    Day 1

    Arrive in Sri Vijaya Puram

    • Morning: Land at Veer Savarkar International Airport and check in; rest after the early start.

    • Afternoon: Corbyn's Cove beach, or the Samudrika Naval Marine Museum.

    • Evening: The Cellular Jail in the late afternoon, then the light-and-sound show.

Stay: Sri Vijaya Puram (Aberdeen Bazaar or Corbyn's Cove)

  2. 2

    Day 2

    Ross and North Bay

    • Morning: Boat from Aberdeen Jetty to Ross Island (Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Dweep) to walk among the colonial ruins.

    • Afternoon: North Bay for a glass-bottom boat, snorkelling or a sea walk.

    • Evening: Seafood dinner and an early night before the ferry.

    Stay: Sri Vijaya Puram

Ross Island has a weekly closing day; check before fixing the date.

  3. 3

    Day 3

    Ferry to Havelock

    • Morning: Morning catamaran to Swaraj Dweep (Havelock), about 1.5–2.5 hours, and check in.

    • Afternoon: Lunch and rest, or a quiet hour at Kalapathar Beach.

    • Evening: Sunset at Radhanagar Beach, then dinner near your resort.

    Stay: Havelock (Swaraj Dweep)

  4. 4

    Day 4

    Elephant Beach and diving

    • Morning: Shared boat to Elephant Beach for snorkelling or a sea walk, or a try dive with a dive centre.

    • Afternoon: A lazy afternoon at the resort, or mangrove kayaking.

    • Evening: Dinner at one of the restaurants around Govind Nagar beach.

    Stay: Havelock (Swaraj Dweep)

Don't fly within 18–24 hours of diving; this plan leaves two days' gap.

  5. 5

    Day 5

    Ferry to Neil

    • Morning: Catamaran to Shaheed Dweep (Neil), about an hour, and check in.

    • Afternoon: The Natural Bridge at low tide, then Bharatpur Beach for a glass-bottom boat ride.

    • Evening: Sunset at Laxmanpur Beach.

    Stay: Neil (Shaheed Dweep)

  6. 6

    Day 6

Back to the capital and home

    • Morning: Early ferry from Neil to Sri Vijaya Puram, about 1–1.5 hours.

    • Afternoon: Transfer to the airport for your flight.

    • Evening: Fly home.

Book a flight that leaves after 1 pm to allow for ferry delays.

Why this order?

Starting in Sri Vijaya Puram means you see the history first, while giving yourself a buffer before the first ferry. Havelock gets two nights because it has the best beaches and the most water activities. Neil comes last because it's quieter, and the ferry from there back to the capital is short.

How do the ferries work?

Private catamarans such as Makruzz, Nautika, Green Ocean and ITT Majestic sail between the three islands daily and cost roughly ₹1,200–2,800 per person per leg, depending on class and season. Book them as soon as your flights are fixed, especially for December and January. Government ships are cheaper, but tickets are harder to get.

What does it cost?

Mid-range land packages for this route start at about ₹38,000 per person on twin sharing, covering 3★–4★ hotels, all private ferries, transfers and sightseeing. Flights to Sri Vijaya Puram and water activities are extra.

Between May and October, spend the last night in Sri Vijaya Puram rather than on Neil. Ferry cancellations are common in the monsoon and can otherwise cost you your flight.

Frequently asked questions

Can I skip Neil Island?
Yes. A five-day version spends two nights in Sri Vijaya Puram and two on Havelock, with an early ferry back on the last morning. You'll miss the Natural Bridge and Neil's quiet beaches, but Havelock covers the main snorkelling and beach highlights. Neil is best for travellers who want an unhurried final day.
Is this Andaman itinerary good for honeymooners?
Yes. Upgrade the Havelock nights to a beachfront resort near Radhanagar or Vijaynagar, and add a candlelit beach dinner or a mangrove kayak trip. Some couples prefer three nights on Havelock and only one in Sri Vijaya Puram, flying in early and seeing the Cellular Jail on day one.
When should I book Andaman ferries?
As soon as your flights are confirmed. For October to May, and especially late December to early January, the best sailings on Makruzz, Nautika and Green Ocean fill weeks ahead. Most travel agents book ferries as part of the package, which avoids gaps between sailings and hotel check-ins.
