Quick answer
A 3-day Corbett trip gives you three safaris across two zones. Day 1: drive from Delhi and take an afternoon safari in Jhirna or Dhela. Day 2: morning safari in Bijrani, then Corbett's house at Kaladhungi and Corbett Falls. Day 3: a final morning safari before driving back. Swap one night for Dhikala if you can get a room.

Day-by-day plan

Day 1
Delhi to Corbett and an afternoon safari
Morning: Leave Delhi by 6 am. Ramnagar is about 260 km and 6–7 hours by road via Moradabad. An overnight train to Ramnagar is the alternative.
Afternoon: Check in on the Ramnagar–Ranikhet road. Afternoon jeep safari in Jhirna or Dhela, both open all year and close to Ramnagar.
Evening: Walk along the Kosi and join the resort naturalist's slideshow or talk if there is one.
Stay: Dhikuli or Ramnagar
If you can't reach by 1 pm, book the afternoon safari for Day 2 instead.

Day 2
Bijrani at dawn, Kaladhungi in the afternoon
Morning: Morning safari in Bijrani, about 6 to 10 am. Wear layers in winter.
Afternoon: Drive about 30 km to Kaladhungi: Corbett's house and museum, a walk in Chhoti Haldwani, and Corbett Falls.
Evening: Stop at the Garjiya Devi temple on the Kosi on the way back.
Stay: Dhikuli or Ramnagar
Families with young children can swap the museum for a riverside picnic.

Day 3
Last safari and return
Morning: Third safari, ideally in Bijrani or Garjiya, or Dhela if they are sold out.
Afternoon: Brunch, check out and drive back to Delhi.
Evening: Arrive in Delhi by late evening; Sunday traffic near Moradabad and Ghaziabad can add 1–2 hours.
Dhikala option: if you get a forest rest house room, spend night 2 inside Dhikala and do both safaris there.
How many safaris do you need in Corbett?
Three is a sensible minimum. Sightings depend on luck, weather and grass height, and spreading safaris across two zones and both morning and afternoon slots improves your odds. This plan gives you three.
Which zones does this itinerary use?
- Jhirna or Dhela for the first afternoon: both are open all year and near Ramnagar.
- Bijrani for the main morning safari: the core zone with the best balance of access and sightings, open 15 October to 30 June.
- Garjiya or Bijrani for the final morning.
If you can book it, a night in Dhikala (15 November to 15 June) is the best upgrade: you sleep inside the park and your jeep safaris start from within.
What does this itinerary cost?
From about ₹15,500 per person, twin sharing, for a group of four: two nights at a 3- to 4-star resort with meals, three jeep safaris shared four ways (each about ₹7,000–8,000 per jeep) and a car from Delhi. Couples pay more per person for safaris, since one jeep costs the same for two or six people.
Book permits on the official portal about 45 days ahead, before you book the hotel. Weekends sell out first.
