Quick answer

A 5-night Jordan trip from India costs about ₹90,000 per person on a budget, ₹1,15,000 mid-range and ₹2.2 lakh for luxury, twin sharing, including return economy flights with one stop. Jordan is pricier than the Gulf on the ground: Petra alone is JOD 50 and most visitors hire a car and driver. The Jordan Pass, at JOD 70–80, is the best-value purchase.

How to spend less without ruining the trip

  • Buy the Jordan Pass online before you fly; Petra alone costs JOD 50 without it.
  • Travel in March or November instead of April and October for lower hotel and camp rates with good weather.
  • Travel as four and share a car and driver; the daily rate is per vehicle.
  • Eat mezze and falafel at local restaurants rather than hotel buffets; vegetarian food is cheap and good.
  • Use a Dead Sea public beach instead of a resort day pass if you only want a float.
  • Compare one-stop fares via Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha and Sharjah; the cheapest hub changes month to month.

How much does a Jordan trip cost from India?

For five nights, plan on ₹90,000–1,15,000 per person, twin sharing, including one-stop flights. Jordan costs more than a Gulf break of the same length for three reasons: there are no non-stop flights from India on most routes, entry to Petra is expensive, and most travellers need a car and driver to link the sites.

TierFrom, per person (5 nights, with flights)
Budget₹90,000
Mid-range₹1,15,000
Luxury₹2,20,000

The Jordan Pass is the first thing to buy

The Jordan Pass costs JOD 70, 75 or 80 (about ₹8,700–9,900), depending on whether you want one, two or three days at Petra. It covers Petra, Jerash, the Wadi Rum protected area, the Amman Citadel, Kerak and dozens of other sites, and it can cover the tourist visa fee for eligible travellers who stay at least three nights. Buy it online before arrival. Whether the visa waiver applies to your passport and entry point is explained on our Jordan visa guide.

Car and driver vs bus

JETT buses link Amman, Petra and Aqaba cheaply, but Jerash, the King's Highway and the Dead Sea are awkward without a car. A private car with driver for five days costs roughly ₹45,000–64,000 per vehicle, which is reasonable split by two and good value split by four. Self-drive is possible, but most Indian travellers prefer a driver.

Where the rest goes

Hotels in Petra's Wadi Musa and at the Dead Sea are pricier than in Amman. Wadi Rum camps range from simple tents to bubble domes with private bathrooms. Food is good value if you eat local mezze, and vegetarians do well; see the Jordan food guide. Plan which sites matter most with things to do in Jordan.

Forex and TCS

The Jordanian dinar is a strong currency at about ₹124, so small-looking prices add up. Cards work in hotels and larger restaurants; carry cash for taxis, tips and small shops. A forex card loaded with US dollars or dinars is the simplest option. TCS applies to overseas tour packages bought in India and can be adjusted against your income tax.

April, May and October are peak months. For similar weather at lower prices, consider March or November; see best time to visit Jordan.

Frequently asked questions

Why is Jordan more expensive than Dubai?
Jordan has no regular non-stop flights from India, so fares are higher. Petra entry is JOD 50 a day, and most travellers hire a car and driver because the sites are spread out. Hotels in Petra and at the Dead Sea are also priced above Gulf city hotels of similar standard.
Is the Jordan Pass worth it for Indians?
Yes, in most cases. It costs JOD 70–80, covers Petra and over 40 sites, and can cover the tourist visa fee for eligible travellers who stay at least three nights. Petra alone is JOD 50. Check on our Jordan visa guide how the visa waiver applies to Indian passports before relying on it.
How much does a car with driver cost in Jordan?
A private car with an English-speaking driver typically costs about ₹9,000–13,000 per day per vehicle for a five-day loop, including the driver's expenses. Split between two people, that is about ₹22,000–32,000 each for five days. Larger vans for families and groups cost more but less per head.
What is a realistic daily budget in Jordan?
Outside your hotel and car, plan on about ₹3,500–6,000 per person per day for meals, tips, Petra by Night, Dead Sea access and small purchases. Local falafel and mezze places are cheap. Hotel restaurants in Petra and at the Dead Sea are where costs climb.
