Quick answer

A good first 7-day Thailand trip spends two nights in Pattaya for Coral Island and the shows, two in Bangkok for the temples, Safari World and shopping, and two in Phuket for the Phi Phi Islands and the Big Buddha. A one-hour domestic flight links Bangkok and Phuket. Mid-range land costs start around ₹36,000 per person, excluding international flights.

Day-by-day plan

  1. 1

    Day 1

Arrive in Bangkok, drive to Pattaya

    • Morning: Land at Suvarnabhumi with your TDAC arrival-card QR code ready. Buy a local SIM at the airport and meet your private transfer.

    • Afternoon: Drive about two hours to Pattaya. Check in, rest after the overnight flight and take a slow walk along Pattaya Beach or Jomtien.

    • Evening: Early show at Alcazar or Tiffany's cabaret, then dinner at one of the Indian restaurants on Beach Road.

Stay: Pattaya (North Pattaya or Jomtien)

Most flights from India land between 5 am and 8 am. Pay for early check-in or keep the first day very light.

  2. 2

    Day 2

Coral Island and the Sanctuary of Truth

    • Morning: Speedboat to Coral Island (Koh Larn) for Tawaen or Samae beach. Parasailing, sea-walking and glass-bottom boats are optional extras.

    • Afternoon: Return by about 3 pm, freshen up and visit the Sanctuary of Truth, the all-wood temple-palace on the seafront.

    • Evening: Families: Terminal 21 food court or the Jomtien night market. Adults: Walking Street after 10 pm.

    Stay: Pattaya

Agree watersport prices in writing before you start, and photograph any jet-ski before riding.

  3. 3

    Day 3

Pattaya to Bangkok, temples by the river

    • Morning: Check out by 9 am and drive to Bangkok, heading straight to the Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew.

    • Afternoon: Walk to Wat Pho for the reclining Buddha, then take the river ferry across to Wat Arun. Check in to your hotel.

    • Evening: Chao Phraya dinner cruise from ICONSIAM or Asiatique, with vegetarian dishes on most buffets.

    Stay: Bangkok (Sukhumvit or Pratunam)

The Grand Palace's last entry is around 3:30 pm. Dress with covered shoulders and knees for the whole day.

  4. 4

    Day 4

    Safari World or Chatuchak

    • Morning: Full day at Safari World: the drive-through safari first, then the Marine Park shows. If it is a weekend, groups of adults may prefer Chatuchak market.

    • Afternoon: Continue at Safari World with lunch in the park, returning by about 5 pm.

    • Evening: Shopping at Pratunam and Platinum Fashion Mall, or ICONSIAM for its indoor floating-market food court.

    Stay: Bangkok

  5. 5

    Day 5

    Fly to Phuket

    • Morning: Domestic flight to Phuket, about 1 hour 20 minutes. Check whether it leaves from Suvarnabhumi or Don Mueang; they are an hour apart.

    • Afternoon: Check in at Patong or Kata and spend the afternoon on the beach or by the pool.

    • Evening: Sunset at Promthep Cape, then Simon Cabaret or a walk down Bangla Road.

    Stay: Phuket (Patong or Kata)

Low-cost domestic tickets often exclude checked bags. Add baggage when booking; it costs far more at the airport.

  6. 6

    Day 6

    Phi Phi Islands by speedboat

    • Morning: Early pick-up for a speedboat day to Maya Bay, Pileh Lagoon and Viking Cave.

    • Afternoon: Lunch on Phi Phi Don, snorkelling at Bamboo or Khai Island, and back to Phuket by about 5 pm.

    • Evening: Thai massage and an easy dinner near your hotel.

    Stay: Phuket

In the monsoon, keep day 7 free as a back-up in case the Phi Phi boat is cancelled.

  7. 7

    Day 7

Big Buddha, Old Town and fly home

    • Morning: Big Buddha and Wat Chalong, then Karon Viewpoint for the three-bay photo.

    • Afternoon: Old Phuket Town's shophouses and cafés, or last-minute shopping at Central Phuket.

    • Evening: Transfer to Phuket airport for your flight home, direct to some Indian cities or via Bangkok.

Allow 45–60 minutes from Patong to the airport, more in evening traffic.

Who is this 7-day plan for?

It is the route most Indian families and first-timers ask for: Pattaya's easy beach and shows, Bangkok's temples and shopping, and the island scenery of Phuket. The pace is moderate, with one big activity a day and evenings kept free for food and shopping. It works with children over five and with active seniors if you use private transfers.

How can you change it?

  • Swap Phuket for Krabi if you prefer quieter beaches and cliffs to nightlife. Follow our 4-day Krabi itinerary for the last three days.
  • Drop Pattaya and give Bangkok three nights if you are not keen on beach towns.
  • Add Chiang Mai with three extra nights for elephants and northern temples.

What does it cost?

The ₹36,000 per person land cost assumes twin sharing in 4★ hotels with breakfast, private airport and intercity transfers, the Bangkok–Phuket flight, and the tours named here: Coral Island, a cabaret show, the Grand Palace with Wat Pho and Wat Arun, Safari World, a dinner cruise and Phi Phi by speedboat. Lunches, dinners and international flights are extra. Our Thailand trip cost page shows the full picture, including flights from Indian cities.

Thailand is visa-free for Indian tourists for up to 30 days, but the free TDAC arrival card must be filed online within three days before you land. Read the Thailand visa guide before booking.

Frequently asked questions

Is 7 days enough for Thailand?
Seven days is enough for Bangkok, Pattaya and one beach region at a comfortable pace. You will not see the north, so save Chiang Mai for a second trip or add three nights. If you only have five days, stick to Bangkok and Pattaya and skip the domestic flight.
Should I book Thailand tours before leaving India?
Book the essentials in advance: airport and intercity transfers, the Phi Phi speedboat and Safari World. They sell out in peak season and are usually cheaper as part of a package. Smaller extras such as massages, cabaret tickets and Coral Island watersports are easy to arrange locally a day or two ahead.
Is this Thailand itinerary suitable for seniors?
Yes, with private transfers and a slower first day. The Grand Palace involves a lot of walking in the heat, so go early and take breaks. Seniors who are not confident in water can enjoy the Phi Phi trip from the boat. November to February is the most comfortable time for older travellers.
