Why base yourself in Ao Nang?
Ao Nang is the practical centre of Krabi: longtails to Railay leave from its beach, every island tour picks up from its hotels, and it has the widest choice of restaurants, including several Indian ones. Railay is more scenic, but it can only be reached by boat, which makes luggage, late dinners and monsoon days harder.
How can you change this plan?
- Honeymooners: Move to a Railay resort for the last two nights for sunsets without the boat ride home.
- Monsoon (May–October): Keep day four flexible so you can switch an island day if the sea is rough.
- More time: Add two nights on Koh Lanta or combine with our 4-day Phuket itinerary. Phuket is about two hours away by road.
- Families with young children: Skip the Tiger Cave climb and the Railay viewpoint; the 4 Islands tour and kayaking are easy for children over six.
What does it cost?
The ₹22,000 per person land cost assumes four nights in a 4★ Ao Nang hotel with breakfast, twin sharing, private airport transfers, the 4 Islands tour with lunch, Railay longtail fares and a day tour to Tiger Cave Temple and the Emerald Pool. National park fees, other meals and flights are extra.
Pack water shoes and a dry bag. Railay East, Tup Island and many boat landings have sharp rocks, and you will step into the sea to board longtails.
