Quick answer

Four days in Qatar works as: arrival with Msheireb and Souq Waqif, the National Museum and Museum of Islamic Art with a sunset dhow ride, Katara and The Pearl followed by a desert safari to the Inland Sea, and a final morning kayaking the Al Thakira mangroves and visiting Al Zubarah Fort. Mid-range land cost starts at about ₹32,000 per person, excluding flights.

The route

  1. Doha (Msheireb · Souq Waqif · West Bay)
  2. Katara and The Pearl
  3. Khor Al Adaid
  4. Al Thakira and Al Zubarah

Day-by-day plan

  1. 1

    Day 1

    Arrive, Msheireb and Souq Waqif

    • Morning: Land at Hamad International Airport; central Doha is about 20 minutes by metro or taxi.

    • Afternoon: Check in and rest, then walk through the Msheireb Museums' restored heritage houses.

    • Evening: Souq Waqif for dinner, spices and the Falcon Souq.

    Stay: Msheireb or West Bay

Buy a metro travel card at the airport; the Red Line runs to Msheireb and West Bay.

  2. 2

    Day 2

    Museums and the bay

    • Morning: National Museum of Qatar from opening; allow 2–3 hours for the galleries in order.

    • Afternoon: Museum of Islamic Art, then MIA Park for the skyline view.

    • Evening: Sunset dhow ride from the Corniche, then dinner in West Bay or back at the souq.

    Stay: Msheireb or West Bay

Friday museum hours usually start after midday prayers; plan museums for another day if you can.

  3. 3

    Day 3

Katara, The Pearl and the desert

    • Morning: Katara Cultural Village and beach, then The Pearl-Qatar's Qanat Quartier.

    • Afternoon: Desert safari pickup around 2 pm: dune drive, sandboarding and a camel ride.

    • Evening: Sunset at Khor Al Adaid, where the dunes meet the Inland Sea. Back in Doha by about 8 pm.

    Stay: Msheireb or West Bay

Skip dune bashing if you are pregnant, elderly or have back trouble; ask for a gentle drive.

  4. 4

    Day 4

    North Qatar and departure

    • Morning: Early drive to Al Thakira for a guided mangrove kayak at high tide.

    • Afternoon: Al Zubarah Fort and the UNESCO-listed pearling town, then back towards Doha.

    • Evening: Lusail Boulevard if time allows, then the airport.

With an early flight, swap the north for Lusail and Place Vendôme on the morning of departure.

Who this Qatar itinerary suits

This relaxed four-day plan suits families, couples and travellers using Doha as a stopover on a longer trip. Doha's main sights are close together, so the plan leaves afternoons free in the heat. See more options on things to do in Qatar.

Shortening it for a stopover

With 24–48 hours, keep days one and two: Souq Waqif, the two big museums and the Corniche. The desert safari is the next priority if you have a third day.

What this plan costs

Mid-range land cost starts at about ₹32,000 per person, twin sharing, for three nights in a 4★ hotel, airport transfers, museum tickets, the shared desert safari and a car for the northern day. With return flights from Delhi or Mumbai, expect about ₹58,000 per person; see Qatar trip cost.

Entry and hotels

Entry for Indian passport holders is tied to a confirmed hotel booking, and the approved booking channel matters, so book your hotel only after reading our Qatar visa guide. Compare neighbourhoods on where to stay in Doha.

November to March is the comfortable window. In summer, keep this plan but move the souq and Corniche to after sunset; see best time to visit Qatar.

Doha is easy for vegetarians, with Indian restaurants in every neighbourhood; see the Qatar food guide.

Frequently asked questions

Is 4 days too long for Qatar?
Four days is comfortable rather than too long. It covers Doha's museums and souq, a desert safari and the northern mangroves and fort without rushing. If you only want the city highlights, two days is enough. Three days is a good middle ground for most families.
Can I visit Qatar on a stopover?
Yes. Doha is set up for stopovers: the airport is about 20 minutes from the centre, the metro reaches the main sights, and Souq Waqif and the Museum of Islamic Art fit easily into a day. Entry rules still apply, so check hotel booking requirements for Indian passports first.
Do I need a car in Qatar?
Not for Doha, where the metro and taxis cover everything. You need a car with driver or a rental for the northern day to Al Thakira and Al Zubarah, about an hour each way. The desert safari must be booked with an operator, as ordinary rental cars cannot drive on the dunes.
