Definition
Package pricing quoted per person, assuming two adults share one room. It describes occupancy, not beds: a couple and two friends pay the same rate. A solo traveller pays a single supplement for having the room alone.
How to read a twin-sharing price
Almost every Indian package price is per person on twin sharing. "Thailand 5 nights from ₹20,000 per person, twin sharing, land only" means at least ₹40,000 for two people sharing a room, before flights, visa and personal spending. The figure is the room cost split two ways, plus each person's transfers, tours and meals.
Twin room or double bed?
Twin sharing doesn't promise two beds. Most hotels give couples a double bed by default. Friends, siblings, or a parent with an adult child should ask for a twin room (two single beds) at booking. It's usually on request rather than guaranteed, especially in small hotels in Europe and Japan.
Travelling solo
Alone, you pay a single supplement because the whole room cost falls on you. Expect the per-person price to rise by roughly 40–80% on most packages: more in expensive hotel cities such as Singapore, Zurich or Paris, less where hotels are cheap, as in Vietnam. Some fixed departures will pair you with another solo traveller of the same gender to avoid the supplement.
Comparing quotes
- Check whether the price is per person or per room, and for twin, triple or quad sharing.
- Confirm whether taxes are included. On overseas packages, GST and, from 1 April 2026, 2% TCS apply to the total.
- If a third person shares the room, see triple sharing and child with bed.
