Getting into your hotel room before the standard check-in time, usually 2 or 3 pm abroad and 12 noon to 2 pm in India. It's free only if a room happens to be ready; to guarantee it, you pay for the previous night.
Why it matters for Indian travellers
Many flights from India land early in the morning. A Delhi–Bangkok red-eye arrives around 6 am, and the room may not be ready until 2 pm. With children or parents who haven't slept, an eight-hour wait in a lobby can wipe out the first day.
Your three options
- Request it free: add a note to the booking. If a room is vacant and cleaned, the hotel may let you in early. On a busy December weekend, don't count on it.
- Pay for early check-in: some hotels guarantee a morning check-in for a fee, often around half the nightly rate. Get it in writing.
- Book a pre-night: book the room from the previous night. You pay for a full extra night, but the room is yours whenever you arrive.
Watch the date trap. A booking for the night of the 15th doesn't cover a 6 am arrival on the 15th; for that, the booking must start on the 14th. Then tell the hotel you'll arrive in the early hours, or it may treat you as a no-show.
Making the wait easier
- Leave your luggage at the hotel and head out for breakfast or a short walk.
- Many hotels will let you shower in the gym or pool changing rooms.
- An arrival lounge or a few hours in an airport transit hotel can be worth it.
Late checkout works the same way: request it free, pay around half a night, or keep the room another night if your flight leaves late in the evening.
For dawn arrivals, we quote the pre-night as an option. Ask our hotel booking desk to price both.
