Definition
Package pricing per person when three adults share one room, usually a double or twin room with an extra bed or mattress added. It's a little cheaper per head than twin sharing, but the room doesn't get any bigger.
How much you save
The third person shares the room cost but sleeps on an extra bed, so the per-head price drops. On a Goa 3-night package from about ₹10,000 per person twin sharing, triple sharing might bring that down by 5–15% per person, depending on the hotel's extra-bed charge. Transfers, tours and meals still cost the same per head, so the saving is smaller than many people expect.
What the extra bed looks like
- In most Indian and Southeast Asian hotels: a rollaway bed or a mattress on the floor.
- In Dubai and Singapore: usually a rollaway, with occupancy strictly capped at three.
- In Europe: many standard rooms don't allow an extra bed at all, so you need a dedicated triple room, which is scarcer, or two rooms.
- In Japan: standard city-hotel rooms are often too small for three adults.
Who it suits
Three college friends on a Goa or Thailand budget trip, or a couple travelling with a teenager. Many hotels treat children aged 12 and over as adults; for younger children, see child with bed.
Watch out for
- Room size: check the square metres if three adults are sharing for five nights.
- Bathroom queues before early tour pickups.
- Per-room charges that don't split three ways, such as Dubai's Tourism Dirham, charged per room per night. See city tax.
For three adults on a longer trip, a family room or two connecting rooms can be worth the extra. Ask our hotel booking desk to price both.
