Which airlines fly Mumbai to Delhi?

With departures almost every half-hour from dawn to midnight, you're spoilt for choice. Air India is the full-service option; IndiGo, Akasa Air and SpiceJet are low-cost. Mumbai flights use Terminal 1 or 2, and some now use Navi Mumbai International (NMI), which opened in late 2025. Delhi has three terminals, T1, T2 and T3, and the one you use depends on the airline and flight number, so check your boarding pass.

Best flight timings

The 6–9 am and 6–9 pm slots fill with business travellers and cost more; mid-afternoon flights are often cheaper. In December and January, fog can delay early-morning and late-night arrivals into Delhi. If you have a connection or a train to catch, choose a late-morning landing.

Baggage: full-service vs low-cost

IndiGo, Akasa and SpiceJet include 15 kg checked and 7 kg cabin on standard fares, with food for sale. Air India includes a meal and 15 kg or more depending on the fare. For winter trips north, wear your heaviest jacket on board to save weight.

Getting from Delhi airport to the city

From T3, the Airport Express metro line reaches New Delhi railway station in about 20 minutes for under ₹100. T1 is on the Magenta line. An app cab to Connaught Place takes 30–60 minutes and costs ₹450–800; to Noida or Gurugram, budget ₹600–1,200.

When to book and connecting options

Book 3–6 weeks ahead. Fares spike around Diwali, Holi, Christmas and long weekends; late January to March and July to September are usually cheapest. Delhi is the natural hub for onward flights to Srinagar, Leh, Varanasi and the North-East. Book both legs on one ticket so your bags go through.

Tips for families and seniors

Request wheelchair help at booking; both airports involve long walks. Use DigiYatra for faster entry. If you'd rather take the train, the Rajdhani takes about 16 hours.

Frequently asked questions

How long is the flight from Mumbai to Delhi?
About 2 hours to 2 hours 20 minutes gate to gate. Add 1.5–2 hours at Mumbai airport and 30–60 minutes to reach central Delhi, so a door-to-door trip usually takes 5–6 hours.
Which Delhi terminal will I arrive at from Mumbai?
It depends on the airline and the flight number. Delhi has three terminals, T1, T2 and T3, and airlines have moved flights between them in recent years. Check your boarding pass or airline app on the day, especially if someone is coming to collect you.
Which is the cheapest airline from Mumbai to Delhi?
IndiGo, Akasa Air and SpiceJet usually have the lowest base fares, but Air India sometimes matches them on off-peak flights and includes a meal. Compare the full price with baggage and seat selection added before you book.
Is it better to take the train or fly from Mumbai to Delhi?
Flying is much faster: about 5–6 hours door to door against roughly 16 hours on the Rajdhani. The train suits seniors who prefer a sleeper berth, or dates when festive airfares climb steeply. AC First Class on the Rajdhani often costs about the same as an off-peak flight.
