Is there a direct flight from Mumbai to Bali?

Not on a regular basis at the time of review. Indian airlines have been adding Bali non-stops from other Indian cities, so check current schedules when you search, but most Mumbai travellers fly one-stop. The flying time alone is about 8 hours; Bali is 2 hours 30 minutes ahead of India.

Best one-stop options

  • Singapore Airlines via Singapore: the most comfortable, with a short connection inside Changi.
  • Malaysia Airlines or Batik Air via Kuala Lumpur: often the cheapest; Batik's lowest fares may not include meals.
  • Thai Airways via Bangkok: useful if you want a Bangkok stopover.

Aim for a layover of 2–4 hours. Anything under 90 minutes is risky, and leaving the airport on a Singapore layover needs a Singapore visa.

Baggage: full-service vs low-cost

Full-service tickets include meals and a checked bag throughout. If you pair a cheap flight to Kuala Lumpur with a separate budget ticket to Bali, you'll collect and re-check bags, clear Malaysian immigration and may pay for baggage twice. Keep the whole journey on one ticket.

Getting from Bali airport to your hotel

A pre-booked car to Seminyak takes 30–60 minutes and costs IDR 250,000–350,000 (₹1,350–1,900). Ubud is 1.5–2 hours away, IDR 350,000–500,000 (₹1,900–2,700). Nusa Dua is closest, about 25 minutes. Grab and Gojek pick up from designated zones.

When to book

Book 3–6 weeks ahead, earlier for July–August and December, the busiest months. Late January to March (the wet season) and November usually cost less.

Tips for families and seniors

With elderly parents, split the journey with a night in Singapore; a 12-hour trip with a midnight connection is tiring. Pre-book vegetarian meals on every sector. Pay the e-VoA and tourist levy online before you fly to skip queues.

Frequently asked questions

How long does it take to fly from Mumbai to Bali?
With one stop, 10–13 hours in total, depending on the layover. The flying time alone is about 8 hours: roughly 5 hours 25 minutes to Singapore and 2 hours 40 minutes on to Bali. Bali is 2 hours 30 minutes ahead of India.
What is the cheapest way to fly from Mumbai to Bali?
Batik Air or Malaysia Airlines via Kuala Lumpur is usually the cheapest single-ticket option. Singapore Airlines costs more but has smoother connections. Avoid stitching separate budget tickets together, because a delay on the first flight can cost you the second with no protection.
Do Indians get a visa on arrival in Bali?
Yes. Indian passport holders can get a 30-day visa on arrival for IDR 500,000 (about ₹2,700), extendable once, or buy the e-VoA online in advance. Bali also charges a one-time tourist levy of IDR 150,000 (about ₹810) per person, payable online before you fly.
Do I need a visa to change planes in Singapore?
Not if you stay airside and your bags are checked through to Bali on one ticket. If you want to leave Changi for a stopover, or have to collect and re-check bags on separate tickets, you need a Singapore visa, which Indians apply for through authorised agents.
