When to travel

October to March is the main season with dry, comfortable weather. December and January are peak. June to August is the south-west monsoon — dramatic, green and the traditional Ayurveda season, with rates falling sharply. September and early October are a good compromise of green landscape and reduced rain.

Entry and paperwork

No visa or permit is needed for Indian citizens. Some wildlife areas restrict vehicle entry and require advance booking for boat safaris, particularly at Periyar, and we book these ahead as availability is limited.
