Quick answer

Six days in Seychelles works best as two nights on Mahé and three on Praslin, with a day trip to La Digue. See Victoria and the Mahé hills first, take the catamaran to Praslin for Vallée de Mai and Anse Lazio, spend a day on Curieuse with giant tortoises, and cycle La Digue to Anse Source d'Argent. Land costs start around ₹70,000 per person.

The route

  1. Mahé (2 nights)
  2. Praslin (3 nights, La Digue day trip)
  3. Mahé airport

Day-by-day plan

  1. 1

    Day 1

    Arrive on Mahé

    • Morning: Land at Seychelles International Airport. Show your travel authorisation, return ticket and hotel booking at immigration.

    • Afternoon: Transfer to Beau Vallon (about 30 minutes), check in and rest.

    • Evening: Sunset swim at Beau Vallon. On Wednesdays, eat at the Bazar Labrin street-food market.

    Stay: Beau Vallon, Mahé

Most flights from the Gulf arrive early in the morning; book an early check-in or expect to wait until 2 pm.

  2. 2

    Day 2

    Victoria and the Mahé hills

    • Morning: Victoria: the market, the Clock Tower and the Ganesh temple. Then the Copolia trail for views over the capital.

    • Afternoon: Drive the Sans Souci road to the Mission Ruins and the tea factory, then down to Port Launay or Anse Intendance for a swim.

    • Evening: Dinner in Beau Vallon.

    Stay: Beau Vallon, Mahé

  3. 3

    Day 3

Catamaran to Praslin, Vallée de Mai and Anse Lazio

    • Morning: Take the morning Cat Cocos catamaran from Victoria to Praslin (about one hour). Drop bags and head to Vallée de Mai before the crowds.

    • Afternoon: Swim and snorkel at Anse Lazio.

    • Evening: Sunset at Côte d'Or and dinner nearby.

Stay: Côte d'Or (Anse Volbert), Praslin

Take seasickness tablets in June–September, when the crossing can be rough.

  4. 4

    Day 4

    Curieuse and St Pierre

    • Morning: Boat to Curieuse to walk among giant tortoises and along the mangrove boardwalk.

    • Afternoon: Creole lunch on the island, then snorkelling off St Pierre.

    • Evening: Rest at the hotel.

Stay: Côte d'Or (Anse Volbert), Praslin

Order a vegetarian lunch when you book the trip.

  5. 5

    Day 5

    La Digue day trip

    • Morning: Fifteen-minute ferry to La Digue. Hire bicycles at the jetty and ride to L'Union Estate and Anse Source d'Argent at low tide.

    • Afternoon: Cycle to Grand Anse and Petite Anse; lunch at a beach café.

    • Evening: Ferry back to Praslin.

Stay: Côte d'Or (Anse Volbert), Praslin

Check tide times the night before — Anse Source d'Argent needs low tide.

  6. 6

    Day 6

Return to Mahé and fly home

    • Morning: Last swim, then the catamaran or a 15-minute domestic flight back to Mahé.

    • Afternoon: Airport transfer and check-in.

    • Evening: Fly home, usually via Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha or Colombo.

Leave at least four hours between the ferry arrival and your international flight.

Why split Mahé and Praslin?

Mahé has the airport, the capital and the mountains; Praslin has the best beaches and is the jumping-off point for La Digue and Curieuse. Staying on both cuts daily boat time to a minimum. La Digue is lovely overnight, but with only six days a day trip from Praslin gives you its best beach without a third hotel change.

How to adapt this plan

  • Honeymooners: add a seventh night and move the last two to La Digue for quieter evenings.
  • Families: drop the Copolia hike, add a glass-bottom boat in Sainte Anne Marine Park, and pick hotels with calm swimming beaches such as Beau Vallon and Côte d'Or.
  • Budget travellers: use self-catering guesthouses and Mahé's public buses, which are cheap and frequent on main routes.
  • Divers: add two boat dives from Beau Vallon in April–May or October–November.

What this itinerary costs

Land cost starts at about ₹70,000 per person for five nights in 3★–4★ hotels with breakfast, the Mahé–Praslin catamaran, the La Digue ferry, transfers, the Curieuse trip and park fees. Return flights from India add ₹45,000–70,000. See the Seychelles trip cost guide for the full picture, things to do in Seychelles for excursion prices, and the Seychelles food guide for vegetarian meals.

Apply for the Seychelles travel authorisation online before you fly, and check the best time to visit Seychelles — calm seas make this plan far more comfortable. Entry rules are in the Seychelles visa guide.

Frequently asked questions

Is six days enough for Seychelles?
Yes, for Mahé and Praslin with a day on La Digue. It is tight for three island stays, so this plan uses only two hotels. With eight days you can add two nights on La Digue and keep a spare day for weather, which helps in the windier June–September months.
Should I take the ferry or fly from Mahé to Praslin?
The Cat Cocos catamaran takes about an hour, runs several times a day and costs roughly EUR 55–75 one way. The domestic flight takes 15 minutes, costs a little more and has tight baggage limits. Fly if anyone gets seasick, especially between June and September.
Can this itinerary be done with children or parents?
Yes, with small changes. Swap the Copolia hike for Sainte Anne Marine Park, use a taxi on La Digue instead of bicycles, and choose beachfront hotels to cut walking. Boat landings at Curieuse can involve wading, so check mobility before booking that day.
