• Egyptian Museum and the Grand Egyptian Museum — Tutankhamun's treasures and the largest collection of pharaonic antiquities anywhere.
• Nile cruise, Luxor to Aswan — Three or four nights taking in Edfu, Kom Ombo and the temples along the river.
• Valley of the Kings — Royal tombs cut into the rock, with wall paintings still holding their colour.
• Abu Simbel — Ramses II's colossal temples, relocated stone by stone when the Aswan dam was built.
• Khan el-Khalili — Cairo's medieval bazaar, best in the evening with mint tea.

When to travel

October to April is the comfortable season, with December to February coolest and busiest. March and November are excellent compromises. May to September is extremely hot in Upper Egypt — Luxor and Aswan regularly exceed 40°C — though Red Sea resorts remain viable and rates fall sharply.

Entry and paperwork

Indian passport holders require an Egyptian visa, available as an e-visa applied for online or, under certain conditions, on arrival. Holders of valid US, UK, Schengen or Japanese visas often qualify for simplified entry. We confirm which route applies to your documents before booking.
